Hey there! Rebecca here. Thanks for visiting!

So I guess you want to know a little about me?
I'm 21, in college, and painting is my passion. You will find a little bit of everything in my gallery, though I specialize in painting horses. I try to respond promptly to every comment, however sometimes life gets in the way. Stayed tuned, I'll get back to you soon.

Just A Journal

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 7, 2009, 10:02 PM

Update 1.0

Because I didn't feel like making a new journal and spamming inboxes. I'm putting off going to sleep. The History Channel is not helping.

Molly and I are going to visit my family this weekend for my grandma's 80th birthday. God love dogs...they know when you need them most and Molly has been right at my side all night. It has been a trying day of getting yelled at, being tardy, getting a verbal from my boss for dress code (wtf? I forgot and wore jeans...so not my day), fighting with the pharmacy, and it has just been insanely frustrating. I need a holiday. Thanks goodness the place where I work observes veteran's day as a non-working holiday this year we get 2 days off for Thanksgiving. Molly and I will be spending Thanksgiving with my mom and step-dad this year. I don't think I could take my extended family in Dallas all being crammed into one small home for 2 days. It's always fun to figure out holiday arrangements when you've got family scattered within long, but feasible, driving distance.

I think I'll take Molly for one last walk around the complex. That has a very relaxing effect if you can ignore the mosquitoes. Also, WTF? Mosquitoes in November? Darn you global warming! :shakefish:

The Interwebs

New CSS time. I like it. I'll be trying my luck at adding CSS to my gallery folders too. Also, go friend me on Facebook if you haven't already. Just add a lil message so that I know you're from DA and don't have to ask rude question like "who teh cheese are j00?"

I need some good time wasting sites that are interesting. Sites like LOLcats. Leave a link if you're awesome like that.

Doggie News

My new dog has gone through yet another name change, which brings the total to 3 names in 3 days. Poor dear will have an identity crisis. :XD: But this one will be sticking. Molly. She's definitely a Molly. And she's definitely smart. No accidents in the house, no destruction, she sits, stays (sometimes), lays down, and comes when called. And she's an awesome snuggler. However, she likes to paw people in the face. Any tips on how to break her from doing that? "No" works about 50% of the time...ignoring her does not work, which is what all the silly trainers on Animal Planet say. It's really annoying to get a paw smack in the middle of your face when you're trying to sleep.

My parents are also adopting another dog. A red Min Pin puppy. You have no idea how glad I am not to be in the house when they bring that puppy home. Don't get me wrong, I love puppies, who doesn't? But I can't stand the chewing, potty training, spastic energy, and all that stuff. Do the world a favor: adopt an adult pet.

Creative News

I finished the huge art piece I was working on and I'm quite glad to be done with it. I enjoyed painting it, but it was a real challenge to painting 2 people in one piece with a full background. I dunno how all you fantastic artists on DA do it so well and so quickly.

I'm trying a new way of painting equine portraits, using different brushes, since I usually just use a hard round. It's challenging and I think I'll end up using several brushes to get the right look in this painting, but I'm hoping that it will give the piece a more traditional look since I've always wanted to achieve that effect and have yet to master it.

I haven't done any real writing lately due to lack of interest and lack of inspiration. I guess I'm kind of in a dry spell since I really don't have much motivation to paint either. I blame TV.

F.A.Q.

.Frequently.Asked.Questions.

So I hear you liek horses?
Yup. Why? I've always loved animals, all of them. Horses have a special place in my heart and they always will. I am no longer able to be around actual horses, so I try to keep their spirit with me through art.

Do you take requests/trades/collaborations?
No requests, no exceptions. If I truly, truly admire you art, I might be willing to accept a trade or work with you on a collab.

What about commissions?
I am always willing to discuss commissions, but at this time my plate is rather full. Serious inquiries only please.

Can I use your art on my website/blog/video/horse sim/etc?
No.

Can I print out one of your pictures to hang on my wall?
Yes! If any of my pictures would cheer up a wall, feel free. However, do not use any of my art for commerical purposes and do not repost any of it anywhere on the internet.

Will you critique my artwork?
Maybe. Please only ask if you will not be offended by open, honest critique. I only give contructive criticism, but I will not sugarcoat any crits. I ask that you do the same when critiquing my work.

Will you teach me how to [insert random ability here]?
I will try to help, but I am still learning myself! Really! I learn something new every time I open Photoshop. The best advice I can give is to open the program and play!

Will you enter my contest?
Probably not. Sorry, but I've got a busy life and I really enjoy doing art just for the sake of it. Painting is my relaxation. That said, if your contest is very interesting to me, I might just join in. =]

You seem pretty cool/lame/I hate you/I have a question. How do I get in contact with you?
You can always note me on DA. Notes make me feel special. =D Also, you can e-mail me at Wright.BeccaA@gmail.com, which is checked several times a day.

What is "Horse Tails"?
"Horse Tails" is an ongoing series of short stories about several horse characters I have created. The stories are intended for kids and teens between 7-14 years old. However, I'm 21 and I still enjoy them! =]

Do you write things for younger/older people too?
Yes I do! I love to write - possibly even more than I love to paint! I enjoy making up stories for my young nieces and nephew, but I usually tend to write a little more maturely for people of my own age group. 90% of what I write does not make it to DA, but that may change in the future.

Thus ends the F.A.Q. Hope you learned something! Check back later for updated questions and answers.
